Toso & Massari Renato & Noti

Renato Toso (1940) and Noti Massari (1939), Venetian by birth, culture and election, get their architecture degree in 1967 in the class of Carlo Scarpa (1906 – 1978) and married the next year. Since, they set up an architecture, engineering and design studio together with their children in the inland of Venice laguna.
They had their first experience at the glass manufacture, Fratelli Toso 1854, which was a pioneer to take over the artistical glass work over after the decay of the Venice Republic. Successivley, they started collaborating with various designer, carrying over the craftmanship of the Murano island to serial production.
They work with many Italian furniture and interior companies and deployed their talent while designing lighting projects for Vistosi, Artemide, Foscarini, Venini and Leucos.
They took part in numerous conferences, displays and exhibitions such as the Palazzo Grassi and at the Querini Stampalia foundation in Venice, group exhibitions at the Louvre Museum in Paris, at the MoMA and the Corning Glass museums in New York.
They have also been honored with a number of awards and notably the first prize at the Venice Biennial, awards at the 12th edition of the Triennale in Milan and the national design competition in Trieste. .
From 2002, they design and lead an architectural work in Tanzania for a monastery of a Benedictin community.
