In 1974, Lydia kümel founded her engineering and design department which consists mainly of the study of architecture and interior design. In 1993, she expanded her activities by creating and producing design articles. In the same year she founded the Vezet belgium agency in order to produce and distribute her new creations. Lydia Kümel surrounds herself with young artists and architects who meet for a certain period in their careers and collaborate on her many projects, and this in design, architecture as well as in various compositions. She is credited with many achievements and her objects are now issued and distributed in the whole world. These objects are determinedly 'avant-garde' and some gained first prices at contests. She is specialized in the composition of exhibitions, whether it is an event such as for example the 1998 fair of Milan or a temporary exhibition in a museum. She is currently in charge of the aesthetic, artistic and event consultancy of a part of the Midi Station in Brussels (international train station) and of the complete North station located in the historical part of Brussels.
